Ajlu, when you read that section of the manual please pay careful
attention to the link labelled "Problems with the $Log$ keyword".
Generally, what you're trying to do usually ends up being more trouble
than it's worth.

Ahh, I misunderstood what ajlu was asking, and I checked my inbox and replied, before checking my mailing list folder. Sorry. I haven't used the "$Log$ keyword" feature for nearly eight years, for the reasons that Jim points out.
