CVS on Binaries, and not...

Hi guys...
I am already using CVS for sources stuff... now I find myself to organize a
pool of gfx files ( about few hundred MBytes and thousand files) in a
repoository-like way...we have gfx ppl working on models, but we want to
keep track of any changes keeping older versions of models...

How CVS really behaves with binary files...? Can it manage them...? I
suppose it can keep the various versions and substitutes ( not merging )
them with newver one... can I expect so a 'source-like' behaviour...?

Another question that may be 'evading' from CVS use... My fear is that CVS
use for some ppl may be hard ( and possibly a disaster ), 1st of all as they
have to download a local repository when may be they just need few files...
There is any program CVS-like to solve my problem in a simpler way u know
of...? Any suggestion would be appreciated...

tnx alll

Alex
