checkout hook; user defined keyword

Hi all,

I have to modify files when they are checked out from the cvs repository and
before they are processed. It is the insertion/replacement of a mostly
constant pattern, which varies from time to time.

Working on the files within the 'make' run causes sometimes trouble with
timestamps. So I would prefer the modification to be done by cvs in checkout
or update.

The ideas are:
a user defined keyword, which is updated by the contents of a file;
a hook, which runs a script on the recently checking-out files.

Is there any chance to get it working?

Thanks
  Joachim
