This is to announce the version 1.17 of GNU dbm. This is a maintenance
release; see the end of this message for the list of noteworthy changes.

Here are the compressed sources and a GPG detached signature[*]:

Here are the MD5 and SHA1 checksums:

f20ce117abc6f302ecf62c34d41c1ecf gdbm-1.17.tar.gz
7037e32c7bdfd897a24190bf3c03f122e3370e9d gdbm-1.17.tar.gz

[*] Use a .sig file to verify that the corresponding file (without the
.sig suffix) is intact. First, be sure to download both the .sig file
and the corresponding tarball. Then, run a command like this:

  gpg --verify gdbm-1.17.tar.gz.sig

If that command fails because you don't have the required public key,
then run this command to import it:

  gpg --keyserver --recv-keys 3602B07F55D0C732

and rerun the 'gpg --verify' command.

This release was bootstrapped with the following tools:
  Autoconf 2.69
  Automake 1.15
  Bison 2.7
  Flex 2.5.37
  Makeinfo 5.9.93

Changes in this release:

* int gdbm_close and gdbm_sync

Both functions now return 0 on success. On error, they return -1
and set gdbm_errno and errno to the appropriate error codes.

This fixes Puszcza bug 399 (
