Yes, I figured it out for you. It calls something like:
firefox -remote openURL(www.google.de)
firefox -remote openURL(www.google.de,new-tab)
firefox -remote openURL(www.google.de,new-window)
I guess you use an old firefox version that doesn't understand those
options.
