 gnus-home-directory (expand-file-name "~/.gnus")
 message-directory (concat gnus-home-directory "/Mail")
 message-directory (concat gnus-home-directory "/Mail")
 nndraft-directory (concat gnus-home-directory "/drafts")
 gnus-startup-file (concat gnus-home-directory "/newsrc"))

Works for me.
