I think that I have understood my problem.

When asking only 20 lines, I get:

[ 34: Merciadri Luca ] Re: Posting on Usenet groups using Gnus
       [ 44: Merciadri Luca ]
           [ 52: CHENG Gao ]

through?

       < 23: Merciadri Luca >
[ 25: Merciadri Luca ] Last messages are at the very bottom

and it is the opposite of what I want, as thread "Last messages are at
the very bottom" was the last modified. When I type RET when Gnus asks me how
much lines I want to be
displayed for threads, threads are sorted with the oldest thread at
the top, and the most recent thread at the bottom, as when I ask only
 20 lines.

When it will work for 20 lines, will it work for the whole summary?

Thanks.
