Whilst calendars are under discussion:
The emacs calendar never formats up properly for me
So, ensuring you have Xdialog installed
Put a file in your home directory containing the following two lines
#! /bin/sh
Xdialog --no-cancel --calendar "Perpetual Calendar" 0 0 31 " " " "
Call it anything except "cal" eg: "mycal"
then do:
M-!
mycal
This isn't for everyone, but if you like things neat.
