Ok, I implemented a nnnotmuch back-end myself:
https://github.com/tlikonen/nnnotmuch
The code works but will need some polishing. There's also one problem
that I've been unable to fix: when I restart Gnus the nnnotmuch server
doesn't show in the server buffer anymore. All groups still work. Gnus
manual is not that great about back-end code and a couple of times it
made me guessing and reading the code of other implementations.
