Hrm, good question. I think thought the Linux driver was already set up
for CDs with starting tracks not 1.

I just uninstalled any existing libcdio packages and configured using
--prefix=`pwd`/inst. Both libcdio and cdio-paranoia can be run this way
without setting an LD_LIBRARY_PATH. Presumably they use an rpath. When
you build libcdio-paranoia, you will need to set PKG_CONFIG_PATH so that
it can find the pkg-config specs.
