If you were being attacked, and you bludgeon your assailant, to stay
them off you, you might argue that it was your only way of saving

A non-violent resistance, against an enemy that is able to freely use
violence against you, is fruitless. This doesn't mean that weapons
isn't a problem. In the same way, using copyright against an enemy
that is able to take away your software freedoms using copyright,
might be more fruitful than not doing so. However, again, this doesn't
mean that copyright isn't bad.
