While making inroads into (3), I have started a new ChangeLog and merged
libtool.m4 and ltmain.in from MLB to HEAD, which covers (2) as well. I
suspect that the tags support will fall out of merging lt-cf*.in and
ltconfig.in into libtool.m4.

If someone can merge/update the documentation and bring over the new test
directories while I am doing this, that would be a great help -- don't enable
the additional tests until they can pass though.

I just realised that I don't know what Thomas means by `dlopen support for
.o/.lo'... I guess I won't be doing that then, whatever it is ;-)

I'll be able to check in what I have as soon as DNS entries for the new IP
addresses at gnu make it to my local server. The rest will follow in a day
or three.

I think it unlikely that the patch queue will be drained fast enough to make
the end of month release from HEAD and 1.4.1 as I promised, but I'll roll
them up as soon as the queue is done.

Cheers,
        Gary.
