Peter,
I'm sure Alexandre doesn't have a problem with that, although
I would prefer it being checked in because it is the "right" code,
and if we do find a problem with it, this change isn't really
the cause. Either way I'm not going to argue. ;)

While this seems most reasonable, I do object to checking this in right
now, at least until it has been tested on the platforms which it
affects. "I'm guessing it works properly" does not work for me. "I've
tested this and it works" is far superior.
Give me 24 hours, please, I need to sleep/work before I have a chance
to test this change.
