I think that refinements to the libtool implementation are asymptotic
with the release of libtool 2.0. If we continue to take the approach
that libtool can't be released until it is somehow "perfect" then the
release of libtool 2.0 will slip yet *another* year. Libtool will
never be "perfect" yet the world needs the fundamental improvements
which are already in the libtool 2.0 code.
So why don't we focus on getting libtool 2.0 out the door rather than
fretting about the naming of variables?
