Peter, One other question. Ralf said that they were passing -single_modulefor C++ in building shared libs for lam on Darwin. I am correct to assume that this may have been due to same problem I am seeing...thata non-PIC static lib was linked into a c++ shared lib? In other words, like my use of -single_module for the fortran shared lib, they were just hacking around the problem rather than trully addressing it (by building their static libs as PIC)? Jack
Jack,Ralf is involved in the lam-mpi project and is also a gnu libtool maintainer (well, he's the most active gnu libtool maintainer in recent memory) when he said "I guess we should do that for Fortran as well." he meant gnu libtool should, rather than lam-mpi should.
I think that by building lam-mpi with --with-pic you will see success. Please let us know.
Thanks, Peter
