I think that there's a misunderstanding. Let me know if it's my fault.
You are talking about the first line of comment 5: put 2.18 in the search
box of 2.18 branch, so 2.18 manuals will search 2.18. This is ok.
In my last comment I was talking about the version in master branch, which
is currently 2.19. This implies that a user landing on the homepage and
using the search bar on top will get results for the unstable version. This
is what happens already.
IMO this is not the best choice (maybe I'm not the only one, see comment 3).
