The problem I see is that with a 2GB image is where we store it. Also the size of this image now seems to me to be less worth the effort for a user than using a much smaller ISO file for a 'debian' install from their own download sites, and then following a few lines of 'apt-get' to get a real lilydev environment.

If they are comfortable with using a Virtual Hypervisor and running ISOs then they are probablky OK with using a normal distributions ISO and then running apt-get to download the LP stuff.

However, the main issue is storing the image somewhere. Phil's FTP location is not really suitable for files this size - else I would have probably released LilyDev that I made last year. I was trying to get it really down to the sub 1GB size that LilyDev using 10.x and 11.x was. Maybe it is now impossible.
