We may suggest that bug-lilypond is a low traffic mailing list, so subscribing to it should not be a problem...

I don't think it would well be characterized as low-traffic, but do you really need to be subscribed in order to write to it? It's probably less work for our list moderator if you are but I don't think that your mails otherwise will get lost. No guarantees though.
