An alternative used in the RPMs is to copy the files to
the directory /etc/profile.d/ (you may have to rename
lilypond-profile to lilypond.sh and lilypond-login to
lilypond.csh). Unfortunately, this is a RedHat specific
solution which doesn't work in Debian, for example.
Might still be worth mentioning in INSTALL.txt, though.
