It doesn't test very much, but it doesn't look like anything I've ever
seen in any of my facsimiles. Which doesn't mean it isn't a perfectly
good notation for 4/4 in some notation system, but it isn't one of the

I agree. But the 1.4 time.ly, while not annotated, did produce time
signatures that I found useful for what I'm doing. And the 1.5 one
produces old time signatures that look just like the modern ones.
However, as I reported in a message that crossed yours in the mail,
this seems to be a problem with time.ly, as my own stuff, with the
font commands Juergen suggested, does produce the normal old time
signature.
If I can get 1.5 working well enough on my stuff to use, I will
attempt to produce patches to fix things like this.
