This is a completely different issue. We have first to solve the
problem how to access glyphs in an easy way without hitting the
256-glyph limit (I mean the PostScript encoding vectors, not the Tex
limit). Using OpenType fonts is actually much more complicated:
Either we have to define our own glyph repertoire to access the fonts
via CID numbers, or we must assign glyphs to PUA codes so that a
Unicode cmap can address them. Both is quite inelegant IMHO.
