Hmm, probably you are doing something wrong. Testing with
emmentaler11.otf from version 2.5.9 (the latest lilypond version which
I've compiled), the FreeType 2 test program `ftdump.c' shows
`emmentaler' as the result of FT_Get_Postscript_Name().
