Hi John,

With the latest development release (2.11.61), you can do something like this:

%%%% BEGIN %%%%
\version "2.11.62"

\relative c' {
  \tempo \markup {
    \smaller \general-align #Y #DOWN \note #"4." #1
    \tiny { "92-96" }
  c4 c' c,2
%%%% END %%%%

However, I'm not very fluent with markup commands yet, so there's
probably a better way.  :-)  But this is the general idea.
