Well, he declared my explanation of this patch too boring already, so I
guess that means it's dead.  Considering the amount of time and energy
wasted on defending rather than writing it, probably best for all
involved.  This would not be sustainable for serious work, anyway.

This is free software.  I don't need to start a fork for making my
version of Lilypond do what I need and/or understand.
