That's why I figured-out this abbreviation thing. Look,
on a fresh machine, do this once

Developers
---start cut and pastable section---
git config --global url.git+ssh://git.savannah.gnu.org/srv/git/.insteadof gnu:
git clone gnu:lilypond
---end cut and pastable section---

Right. The next time you want to clone lily, just do

   git clone gnu:lilypond

now, if you really cannot remember that, I'm offerinc to
to sponsor a tattoo.

Greetings,
Jan.

It would be /really/ cool if debian/ubuntu's
GIT (or Linus' upstream git ftm), came with some sensible
abbreviations that would cover major free software repos,
like linux, gnu, gnu, freedesktop, gnome.

For completeness

Contributors
--start cut and pastable section--
git config --global url.git://git.savannah.gnu.org/.insteadof gnu-anon:
git clone gnu-anon:lilypond
---end cut and pastable section---
