If I try to open perl*.tar.gz I get "unexpected end-of-file". I get
the same with the re-downloaded version from CPAN. I'm assuming
it's corrupt. Find another one?

I guess we'll need a different one... let's use perl-5.10.1
http://www.cpan.org/src/5.0/perl-5.10.1.tar.gz
since that's the least likely to break stuff that used to work in
5.10.0.
