Oh.  That would be a less-unusual situation.
If you remove the override, this takes much more time for 400 notes than for 
200.

Jay compiles his own LilyPond, so he probably used a recent version for that.  
I use 2.14.
This are of code hasn't changed (much) for a few years at least.
