I have had some success with converting EPS to SVG (albeit with some manual correction for color spaces)

I'm curious about this, can you say more about these
corrections? (If we do this, it's important to offer an
optimal workflow to convert EPS to SVG, to advise in
the release notes.)

It was some time ago, so I will need to track down the EPS. At the time, I suspected that the source artwork might have been specifying colors in CMYK whereas the SVG ended up using RGB. But since the colors in question were branding-related, I was somewhat paranoid about matching the official Pantone exactly. I found a few reference resources online that listed the equivalent RGB and fixed up the SVG.

I had used inkscape via the command-line to do the conversion, but I cannot recall which version I would have installed back then. It is possible there were color-handling bugs in inkscape itself, and perhaps those have been fixed so this is a non-issue.
