At a guess, I'd say that ly2dvi set up some paths or calls lilypond with some
different options. (ly2dvi is a script)
However, I wouldn't call this a big problem -- you'll (probably) always be
running ly2dvi anyway, not lilypond itself. Unless you *need* to run lilypond
for some reason, as long as ly2dvi and lily-book work, you shouldn't have
any problems.
