The source of the documentation is included with the rest of the
source code. Please download the lilypond-1.7.xx.tar.gz file of
the latest development version from
The main parts of the manual can be found in the Documentation/user/
subdirectory, but the detailed documentation of all properties is
automatically generated from other files.

Since Lilypond is a quickly evolving program, you will have a moving
target. In the long run it would of course be nice to have the
documentation in several languages included with the distribution but
at the moment I don't see any simple practical solution to keep the
different versions up-to-date.

First I want to congratulate you for the wonderful program that you made. I'm a french user, and I started to translate the documentation in my language. But as I don't know every commands in LilyPond, I'd like to know if you can send me the source of the examples, to copy it directly in my latex file. Thanks for all!
