The brackets that Daniel Berjón Díez has asked about are very handy in
organ music when indicating a change in registration or when changing
from one manual (keyboard) to another. I have scores where you can
see these used up to ten times per page.
In truth, not all publishers use the same symbols for this task, but
the thin-line brackets are reasonably common and quite clear as to
their meaning, and something I'd like to add to my scores.
I did have a look at the molecule-hacking code. Ouch!
