articulations: vertical distance + I'm cunfused

I'd like to have articulations close to the note, and tried using both "\property voice.Script \override #'padding" and "\property Voice.Script \override #'staff-padding" but to no avail. How are all atriculations forced close to the notes? And why are the staccato and tenuto drawn close to the note as I want them while the others are not? They're both Script grobs, right?
