Please always state what Linux distribution you use and what
package you used to install LilyPond, when sending questions.

>From the error message, it seems that you would need a newer
version of Guile. However, you have installed a very old
version of LilyPond, I definitely recommend to install the
latest stable version, 2.2.x (or possibly 2.0.x if you have
troubles to find a package for 2.2), since there have been
lots of improvements since version 1.6.
