What I am trying to express is this -
on the upbeat of one give a swing feel to two notes
so, instead of 4 1/16's on the note, rest on the first, and play only
two in the place of three, and give the first of the two slightly more
time than the second (thus the swing feel to the two notes).

I'm sure that's as clear as mud, right?

And I just tried it again with this rhythm and it now works -

r8 f16.[ ef32] d8--[ bf,--]
