minimumVerticalExtent only has effect if you have more than one staff (or
lyrics/chordnames).
You can try passing -f ps to lilypond, this sometimes gives tighter spacing
between systems.
(it is possible though, that it is impossible to easily generate tighter
spacing. If you have a lot of notes, then they simply have to be very small
in order to fit on one page)
