QUESTION: will the proposed cross-staff implementation path enable cross-staff stemming and beaming between *nonadjacent* staves (eg, 1st violins and basses, passing over the 2nd violins, violas and cellos)?
on 2nd thought, isn't this completely different from x-staff stemming for piano chords? In piano chords, note heads from a single voice are distributed across two staves, but form essentially one voice.
If you have stems across violin and bass staff, you want to have separate accidentals, articulations, etc, and the stem should rather be a "spanning" construct, that just connects the stems of individual instruments, right?
