Dear Hanwen:

Here I am at our monastery, enjoying the benefits of nature and grace
combined with OpenSource gifts like LilyPond ... and I've discovered
the LilyPond engines for TeXShop---a great idea, no doubt. I would
like to incorporate very simple music scores into a liturgical book
(which is composed using XeLaTeX for the sake of Syriac fonts
employed). I'm guessing that the music can be compiled as a
pre-process, then compile the rest of the file with XeLaTeX. I'm
trying to avoid using the LilyPond interface and merely dropping in
the PDFs if possible. Of course, if it's the only way ....

However, I get error messages from the console when running the
minimum file below:

****************

\header{
 title = "Test Run"
}

\relative {
 g a b c d( e f) g8( a b c d) e4 f g a b c
}

\version "2.6.5" % necessary for upgrading to future LilyPond versions.

****************

If I run the LilyPond-LaTeX engine, I get the following:

Sat May 10 15:41:39 EDT 2008
tcsh: cp: No match.
Traceback (most recent call last):
 File
"/Applications/LilyPond.app/Contents/Resources/bin//lilypond-book",
line 60, in ?
  import lilylib as ly
ImportError: No module named lilylib

****************

If I run the LilyPond engine, the error message is:

Sat May 10 15:41:39 EDT 2008
tcsh: cp: No match.
Traceback (most recent call last):
 File
"/Applications/LilyPond.app/Contents/Resources/bin//lilypond-book",
line 60, in ?
  import lilylib as ly
ImportError: No module named lilylib

****************

If I search for "lilylib*" under /Applications/LilyPond.app, then it
turns up 3 different python files.

.//Contents/Resources/share/lilypond/2.6.5/python/lilylib.py
.//Contents/Resources/share/lilypond/2.6.5/python/lilylib.pyc
.//Contents/Resources/share/lilypond/2.6.5/python/lilylib.py~

And last but not least, I don't know anything about programming ---
can't even write a script! So far, however, I can get along in the
LaTeX world of things.

Any help is greatly appreciated. And we'll pray for you, too!
