If you want all such fingerings to be vertically aligned, an alternative 
is to use the support for fingered bass.
Yet another alternative is to use
c^\markup{\column{ 1 2 3 }}
but if you want to save key strokes and like the layout of your 
solution, your proposal is probably the best.
