Good idea, but unfortunetely very few books have their previews
avaliable. From all the books listed here
http://dvmpublications.com/bibliography.htm i only found "Essential
dictionary of music notation"
(http://books.google.com/books?id=6PELtxxrz_QC&printsec=frontcover&dq=Essential+Dictionary+of+Music+Notation&hl=pl&ei=X5wQTc7RO4re4Ab0tqmGAg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CCUQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q&f=false).
It's informative, but unfortunately the preview doesn't go beyond
Beams.

There is also a preview of "Music engraving and printing: historical
and technical treatise" available
(http://books.google.com/books?id=bNqRxyCTO7AC&printsec=frontcover&dq=music+engraving&hl=pl&ei=JJkQTcf7OYmH4AaovLC6BA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CCgQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q&f=false),
but, as the title says, its a historical and theoretical treatise,
elaborating on such topics as amount of tin in the plates used for
engraving.

I also went to the library of Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in
Warsaw, but surprisingly they don't have anything much interesting
(some general information in music theory books, that i already know).
Since there is a problem with freely available resources on web, is
there anyone whom i may ask when i encounter some problems? I don't
want to spam the mailing list with questions that some people will
probably find nitpicky and maybe too frequent...

yours Pondly (and Merry Christmas!),
Janek
