Yes, it's too `elegant', so to say, caused by too thin vertical
strokes. The font used in old scores for lyrics is heavily adapted to
small printing; IMHO it's a very extreme optical size. In other
words, if you look at this font at larger sizes (i.e., > 20pt), it
would look horrible :-)
