I found this to be a very strong brief introduction to Scheme: Teach Yourself Scheme in Fixnum Days http://www.ccs.neu.edu/home/dorai/t-y-scheme/t-y-scheme.html[One could argue it is dated in respect of certain areas such as macros, but the basics are sound.]
