Hi,
I have experienced this also.
Simply replace your \new Staff \melody
by \new Staff \new Voice \melody . ;-D
That's because you rely on LilyPond to instantiate your normal voice,
but it won't if you instantiate a CueVoice at the beginning of the
piece.
