In your custom font file. If you want to modify an existing font you will edit it in some editor (or did I misunderstand you and you are talking about modifying LilyPond's Metafont sources to build a modified Emmentaler?) You will change existing glyphs, but the font has lots of empty spaces for additional glyphs that are not normally used by LilyPond. There you can add glyphs and access them manually from LilyPond. But others know much more about this than I do. Best Urs
