Combine tied notes

Hello,

given a sequence of tied notes/chords, is there a way to automatically combine them into a minimal 

sequence of long notes obtained with the sum of the sequence's durations?

Something like:

c4~ c4~ c4~  ---->  c2.  

c4~ c4~ c4~ c4~ c4   ---> c1~ c4

c4~ c4~ c4~ c4~ c4~ c4~ c4   ---->  c1~ c2.
