Not really independent software, but there are three “front-ends” that allow including LilyPond code in LaTeX, HTML and Open/LibreOffice documents:

1. lilypond-book ( This is distributed with LilyPond, output to LaTeX or HTML. 2. lyluatex ( or This is for LuaLaTeX. It works similar to lilypond-book but is a little bit easier to handle as you don’t have to use another program outside LaTeX. 3. OOoLilyPond ( for OpenOffice and LibreOffice.
