This gives in your case the chord above a 4 measure compressed full bar rest:
harmony = \chordmode {
g1*4:m7
}
And this gives the chord above a single measure followed by a
3 measure compressed full bar rest:
harmony = \chordmode {
g1:m7 s1*3
}
