Hello Paul,
I’d suggest to add some tweaks like this
g\tweak self-alignment-X #CENTER \tweak parent-alignment-X #CENTER
_\markup\dynamic"mf"
to get the TextScript to behave a bit more like an actual Dynamics marking.
