It didn't work when I tried (comparing an empty Staff line to an
empty TabStaff line) so thought maybe there was some different
syntax for TabStaff. In any case it's not a big deal - I can work
around it. I find that Lilypond usually does 95% of what I need
and the rest I can usually work around in some way. Sometimes the
effort to get something to work gets more complicated than the
work around and not worth the effort.
I believe that this should simply work, though I haven't tried it myself.
