Audio playback and capture work perfectly with Alsa utilities. I ran arecord and aplay
on the ARM board simulatenously. I could hear the playback and the recording was 
successful as well. 

I guess the issue could be the way ALSA APIs have been used in the mediastreamer2
framework. As stated earlier, could be an issue with the device selection by the mediastreamer2.
