They should and I fixed the discrepancy here:

But I couldn't reproduce this — the widths are perfect on my Windows XP system.
And the difference is way too large to be explained by some measurements
errors. Is there anything unusual about your system's setup? I tried it with
Large Fonts setting on, but that wasn't it, the sizes were still computed
correctly. That's using trunk versions of LMI and wx, but I couldn't reproduce
it back when you first reported the bug either.
